Things You Can Do During The Movement Control Order

02 Apr 2020

Since the Prime Minister announced that Malaysia will be under the movement control order from the 18th till the 31st of March which has now been extended to 14th April 2020 most Malaysians went into Panic mode and some of us who are social butterflies, might take this MCO (movement control order) as if it is the end if the world. Chill! It isn’t the end of the world, here are a few things u can do while being at home during this period!

1) Read a Book

Most of us do not have much time to do these activities, we might have been busy with going out and socializing, or busy with work. Now is the best time to grab a book or go online and look for e-books and start enhancing your language skills, as well as broadening our knowledge. Apparently, the practice of reading books creates cognitive engagement that improves lots of things, including vocabulary, thinking skills, and concentration. It also can affect empathy, social perception, and emotional intelligence, the sum of which helps people stay on the planet longer.

2) Spring Cleaning

We know is not Chinese New Year, but now that you have so much time to spare, it is the best time to put away all the unwanted things and clean up your house! It can be a family activity, make sure to disinfect and sanitize your house while you are at it! You may give away your old things and clothes that are in good condition to the less fortunate!

3) Learn how to cook

If you are on social media, I am sure you’re aware that there are many of your friends sharing their daily meals and some even sharing their recipes. Take this opportunity to try new recipes and spice up your time at home and take it as a self enhancement class, the best part is, you’ll get to share your cooking with your family! Yay!

4) Be a Barista

Love coffee? A new food trend has taken the Internet by storm, especially in southeast Asia - the Dalgona coffee, a frothy whipped drink. Images and clips of the coffee-making process have been widely shared, posing a challenge to fellow netizens (even non-coffee drinkers) to see if they can achieve whipping the coffee to the required consistency. For a cup of this creamy beverage, all you need to do, is mix a tablespoon of instant coffee powder, sugar and quarter cup of hot water. Whisk it for a good five minutes or so until it becomes frothy. Then, pour it over a glass of cold milk. Voila!

From Netflix to Youtube you finally have some time off are using it to catch up on their favourite shows and movies.

10) Family Bonding

Take this time to bond with your family, have a movie night, binge watch a drama with your mom and sister, wash the car with your dad and brother, play some board games, share stories and enjoy every day together as a family! This is the best time to care and bond with your family, we are all growing up while our parents and grandparents are growing old, every moment spent is a moment that’s worth more than gold!

There you go! There’s still so many things you can do during the movement control order!  Always Remember to stay indoors and go out only when it’s necessary! Remember to Sanitize and wear a mask if you are in public. Together we can get through this, let’s all be responsible Malaysians and do our part to help reduce the spread of the Covid- 19 virus.
